How important is supply and demand in the digital economy? After all, iTunes will never run out of songs, and YouTube will never come to an end of the videos. But some things bought and sold on the virtual marketplace are still finite resources, such as bandwidth and processing power. So Amazon is taking a lesson from basic economic theory in developing an innovative leasing system for its EC2 Instances cloud computing service.
