摘要

Well, social science is certainly on the march. So let's take a look at some recent scholarly and survey research that swirls around the intersection of people and technology. The Pew Internet & American Life Project is a good fishing hole for research focused on "the impact of the internet on children, families, communities, the work place, schools, health care and civic/political life." I was intrigued by a report titled "Adults and Video Games," published in December that said: "More than half -53%-of all American adults play video games of some kind, whether on a computer, on a gaming console, on a cell phone or other handheld device, on a portable gaming device, or online." Not surprisingly, there is a drastic difference in demographics: "Younger adults are significantly more likely than any other game group to play games, and as age increases game play decreases."
