The primordial ooze of Web 2.0 is constantly spawning strange new offspring. A few survive to find their place in the online environment; many die not long after birth. But every adaptation is worth examining-a short-lived service might have one cool feature no one has thought of before that can set the stage for the next "it" site. That's the reason for this column, where I'll look at applications, services, and whatever else is useful, neat, or just plain fun. This month, there are two varieties of communication that tie into popular, preexisting Web 2.0 services.
