摘要

As a tech-savvy information professional, you are most likely familiar with Web 2.0 and at least some of its manifestations. You have probably also heard the term Library 2.0 thrown around, but what's really happening with Web 2.0 in libraries? In hopes of answering that question, Nancy Courtney has collected articles to give us a feel for what we can expect in the next few years from a variety of Library 2.0 leaders in her new book, Library 2.0 and Beyond: Innovative Technologies and Tomorrow's User. The book begins with a quick review of Web 2.0 by Elizabeth L. Black, systems librarian and assistant professor at Ohio State University. The term was coined in 2003 by technology guru Tim O'Reilly, and it includes many concepts. Web 2.0 generally encompasses the use of the web as a platform for software, input of information by many users, access to specialized data, and rich user experiences. Not everyone agrees on these qualities or even that Web 2.0 is a valid idea; however, some of the tools that have become associated with Web 2.0 are weblogs, wikis, web-accessible word processing, social networking, and mashups (which "combine data or technology from two or more sources into a single user experience").

但是,已经与Web 2.0关联的一些工具是Weblog,Wiki,Web可访问的文字处理,社交网络和mashup(将“将来自两个或多个来源的数据或技术组合到单一用户体验中”)。
