While many companies in the information industry are thriving, the current economic landscape is a bit shakier these days, especially in the world of finance. But according to Elizabeth Satin, the new managing director of The Jordan, Edmiston Group, Inc. (JEGI), "Despite all of the turmoil in the world markets, transactions in the middle market continue to get done, and businesses with solid operating metrics continue to sell at attractive multiples." Satin began her new role at JEGI earlier this fall after spending more than 19 years as a banker with Lehman Brothers. She started her career there in 1989 as an associate in the Media and Communications Group and was promoted to managing director in 1998. At JEGI, Satin's goal is now to "serve the media and information industries with top M&A ideas and advice," she says. "Once we're engaged by a new client, my job is to manage every aspect of the transaction so that we can deliver the absolute best results." Although she is now working in a different market, Satin has the opportunity to apply the skills she honed during her tenure at Lehman Brothers. "I worked extensively in the media and information services sectors and will continue to do so," she says. "I look forward to applying my same seasoned judgment and deal-making skills to the companies in the middle market."
