A preservation scientist certainly has his or her hands full in today's marketplace, especially if that person works for the largest library in the world.rn"One of the biggest challenges facing a preservation department at the biggest library in the world is the [sheer] enormity and diversity of formats of the collection and the need to prioritize the research agenda to have maximum impact both on our collection and other collections world-wide," said Eric Hansen.rnHansen has recently taken on this challenge after he was named chief of the Preservation Research and Testing Division at the Library of Congress (LC). He came to the LC from the University of California-Los Angeles, where he was a research associate. He also served as associate scientist, scientist, and project manager at the Getty Conservation Institute.
