A crobat is probably the most mis-understood software in history. Many people think of Acrobat strictly in terms of Acrobat Reader. As for where PDFs actually come from, they don't really know. Or maybe they know Acrobat Elements, a stripped-down version of Acrobat, which produces PDFs out of the Microsoft Office applications. So Adobe's challenge with its January announcement of a makeover of the Acrobat product family is to get the word out (again) that there is more to Acrobat than just viewing and creating simple PDFs. Acrobat 7.0, the latest update to the Adobe Intelligent Document Platform, provides users with the ability to assemble documents from multiple sources, create intelligent forms, and collaborate on projects inside and outside a firewall, among other capabilities.
