"Successful" and "well-attended" are the key descriptions of the 2-day Southampton Workshop on U.K. Institutional OA Repositories, held Jan. 25-26 at the New Colleg campus of the University of Southampton. Representatives from the two partners in the U.K. institutional self-archiving initiative—U.K. universities and U.K. research funding councils—were in attendance. JISC Eprints and TARDis (Targeting Academic Research for Deposit and Disclosure) projects and the School of Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) at the University of Southampton organized the workshop. On day one, Southampton University's Steve Hitchcock began the workshop with an overview of open access (OA) self-archiving, noting the difference between it and open access publishing. The main target of this opening presentation was the university's output of annual peer-reviewed journal articles.
