During the last two decades, improved understanding of chemical and physical processes has enabled increases in the capacity of fiber line process equipment. Whereas, in the 1980s, a kraft pulp mill with a capacity of 1,000 adt/d was considered big, capacities today have almost reached 5,000 adt/d.
