The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will open a channel fordiscussion between pipelines and shippers that could help Midweststates solve propane supply problems as temperatures fall at the startof the 2019-2020 heating season.Representatives of the states, including governors and USlawmakers, have warned that troubles with propane distribution andsupply have led to a shortage of the fuel, a byproduct of natural gasthat is used for heating, other residential uses, agriculture andtransportation. In a statement Wednesday, Senator Kevin Cramer,Republican-North Dakota, praised FERC for stepping in with a newalternative dispute resolution process.
