The abundance of US energy supplies has led to a “complete shift” inrnUS thinking on the nation’s energy security, allowing policymakers tornview natural gas as a broad means of helping to boost energy securityrnof US partners, as well as of meeting climate objectives, a DOE officialrnsaid last week.rnSpeaking at an Atlantic Council forum February 8 on how US LNGrnexports may benefit European and global gas supply, Paula Gant, DOErnprincipal deputy assistant secretary for the Office of InternationalrnAffairs, described the “extraordinary place” in US history of natural gasrnabundance, increased efficiency of production and increasing publicrnconfidence that development can be done in a responsible manner.
