The private sector should be responsible for nationwidenefforts to promote and develop demand response, FERC andnDOE told Congress last week.nIdeally, this would be accomplished through a broad coalitionnof stakeholders, according to the proposal to implement annational action plan on demand response, released July 5. Thenproposal “relies as much as possible on existing public programsnand encourages new private involvement through a coalition, ornany private or non-federal governmental organizations, to implementnthe activities outlined in the National Action Plan and, innturn, achieve the objectives” of the Energy Independence andnSecurity Act of 2007, it said.
