Senior DOD officials within the department's logistics and materiel readiness directorate plan to brief acquisition chief Ashton Carter on a new life-cycle sustainment and support plan for current and future acquisition programs, Inside the Pentagon has learned. A senior-level steering group within the logistics and materiel readiness (L&MR) shop has already completed analysis on life-cycle management of 34 legacy weapons systems, according to documents prepared for the Carter briefing scheduled for Sept. 25.
