The countries of the Middle East and North Africa region (MENA) have expected a new model of government and Islamic finance from Egypt, but the road ahead is still uncertain. For now, strong oil economies in the Gulf are still prospering, but the risk of deeper political conflict and violence still haunts a region that accounts for 6 percent of the world's population, 60 percent of its oil reserves and 45 percent of its natural gas.
