It's tough to imagine a more difficult time to promote European stocks to U.S. investors, but Hendrik Riehmer is up for the challenge. One of three managing partners at Germany's private Berenberg Bank, Riehmer was in New York last month to build a sales office. In recent years Berenberg has transformed itself from a small domestic outfit into a pan-European, research-based brokerage. Now it wants to tap the vast U.S. institutional market.
