When future generations look back at the global financial crisis, they will probably applaud the coordinated way that world governments and institutions faced down the challenges together. When the world's financial system appeared to be on the brink of collapse in September and October 2008, central banks acted in concert, slashing interest rates and implementing fiscal stimulus packages such as bank guarantees almost in unison.
