For sovereign, supranational and agency (SSA) borrowers throughout the world, the majority of which are seeing sharp increases in their funding requirements, the Asian investor base is an appealing proposition. Appealing, yes, but not one to be taken for granted. The appetites of the big Asian funds can change abruptly. In the last 12 months interest in euro issues has peaked, tumbled and zoomed upward again. Sterling issues, long part of the Asian diet for some, are on the out. Not surprisingly, given Asia's swift recovery and emerging wealth, issuers are going to new lengths to grab Asian funds' attention.
