Investors are dizzy from gyrating global markets, the governments of developed countries are nationalizing their banks to prevent financial collapse and emerging markets that were spilling over with foreign investment just months ago are now lining up at the IMF window. Yetthis month's Research section reveals a few silver linings in the financial storm cloud. A looming global recession may be wreaking havoc on the global luxury hotel market, but that can mean sweet deals for high-end travelers (see "Five-star Bargains" at right).
