摘要

Indonesia has a lot going for it: natural resources, 237 million people, a soaring stock market and resurgent growth. GDP was up 6 percent in the first half of 2007. But it could be doing better, and to reach that potential, the country needs to develop its infrastructure. "Certainly in Jakarta terms, you have a cap on growth" because of infrastructure, says Michael Chambers at CLSA in Jakarta. "And it starts to detract from growth if you don't do something, particularly in transport. From a national perspective, it's not so desperate - you can still move around and get things done. But there's a pretty clear need to boost infrastructure across the board, from water to seweraae to roads to rail to airPorts."
