China Communications Construction Company, China's largest builder of ports and the world's biggest producer of container cranes, raised US$2.4 billion in its December IPO. The listing capped a big year for CCCC, during which the company restructured its operations and narrowed its focus to four infrastructure-related industries. It also added independent directors to its governing board and courted institutional investors. The IPO's warm reception in Hong Kong testifies to the significance of these reforms and to the value of the company's market position.
