Science communication is a rapidly evolving field thatrnattracts increasing attention from all types of research andrneducational institutions. Scientists are now required torndisseminate scientific discoveries and knowledge, navigatingrntheir way through a process they are largely unfamiliar with.rnAlthough the motivation for science communication variesrnfrom blowing one’s own horn to educating the community inrnorder to influence policy, the value of public engagement isrnpredicted to increase exponentially. Most scientists preparernfor their added role in communication by focusing onrnacquiring skills such as adopting a nontechnical writing andrnpublic speaking style, understanding the most currentrninformation technologies, and becoming involved in onlinernsocial networks. Often, their outreach strategy emphasizes arnstandard lecturer outlook while attempting to make scientificrndiscoveries accessible or appealing to nonexperts.
