What a year it has been for IP. The challenges posed by the internet have exerted a strong influence over almost every sphere of IP law. In this issue, we have a special focus section that examines the most significant UK cases of 2014, many of which concern web-based disruptions. Developments in copyright dominated our news output, with the UK introducing or extending a series of copyright exceptions. Yet more reports were churned out containing the buzz phrases of making copyright "fit for the digital age" and how much the creative industries contributed to the economy. On p28, Tom Ohta gives a comprehensive run down of the major cases and trends of the year and what to expect in 2015. On p6, there is an interview with the CEO of the Copyright Hub, a scheme set up with the sole intention of making copyright more compatible with digital technology. I was impressed by the way it's attempting to come up with a smoother process for connecting rights owners with potential users of their content online.
