摘要

From the 1930s to the 1960s Dorothy Draper was considered America's foremost decorator. A pioneering businesswoman, an original colourist (she adored a mix of pink, red and acid green) and an exuberant stylist, she used her trademark cabbage rose chintzes and neo baroque plasterwork to create typically flamboyant interiors for both public places and private homes. According to the author, she intimidated clients and was the first interior designer, states this scrapbook-style memoir, to insist on taking control of every element of a hotel project - down to the matchbooks and the braid on the bellhops' uniforms.
