Defending a coastline isn't easy and the Navy always needs to be equipped the latest and modern equipment in order to neutralise any threats from its coastline. For instance Nordic countries like Norway have a long and rough coastline which includes numerous islands. In addition the country also has vast ocean areas in the Arctic that boasts of natural resources like fisheries, oil and gas. So it goes without saying that the Royal Norwegian Navy (RNoN) needs modern systems to defend these areas and valuable resources from adversaries, which can operate under harsh conditions.
