The GE9X is a package of the most exceptional superlatives. It is not only the largest commercial turbofan engine of today, roughly the diameter of an Airbus A320's fuselage, but also has the very highest overall pressure ratio of about 60:1 and a HP compressor pressure ratio of about 27:1. Its 134 in diameter fan is the very largest for any commercial engine ever developed, and so are its fan blades. That gives the engine a bypass ratio - the ratio of air passing through the fan to that passing through the engine hot section - of about 10:1. That is the very highest bypass ratio for any General Electric commercial engine to date. The GE9X's anticipated turbine entry temperature of over 1,300 degrees C will be higher than on the earlier GE90-115B, and thus also the very highest on a GE engine.
