Boeing Co. was poised to keep the title of world's largest planemaker for at least two more years amid rising deliveries of the delayed 787 Dreamliner, the jet that helped it beat Airbus SAS for the first time in a decade. However in two separate incidents, 787's batteries began to fail and overheat causing Boeing to ground all its 787s. Boeing's 787 Dreamliner has had a rough ride. After lengthy delays, the plane entered service with All Nippon Airways in October 2011 only to be grounded in January this year after a series of incidents involving the plan's batteries. Boeing had shipped 46 Dreamliners in 2012, pushing total commercial jet deliveries to 601 to take the number one spot after a decade. Airbus, which held the No. 1 spot since 2003 and was expected to hand over 580 jets for the year.
