Mozambique exported its first batch of bio-fuel produced from the Jatropha plant for use by the German airliner Lufthansa. Sun Biofuels, a British company located in the central province of Manica produces oil which is crushed from non-edible seeds from the drought resistant and fast growing plant. The company sent 30 tons of bio-fuel to Germany. According to the firm's director of corporate affairs Sergio Gouveia there is demand for huge quantities of bio-fuel in the world market and Luftansa alone is seeking 400 million litres per year of bio-fuel across the world.
