There is a high need of indigenisation in the defence sector," said Union Defence Minister A K Antony while inaugurating the sixth edition of Defexpo.rnIn his official address, the defence minister stressed on the need for close cooperation between the public and private sector with 100 per cent participation of Indian companies and 26 per cent of foreign firms. He said: "Currently, 2.5 per cent of the net GDP is spent on defence expenditure. With the total expenditure rising to the figures of 8-10, defence expenditure is bound to increase in the coming years."
