Pratt & Whitney (P&W), which has been a leader in the engine sector for about eight decades, has been an Indian partner for more than sixty years.rnP&W started its association with India with Wasp engine in the 1940s. Incidentally, India's first multi-role, light transport aircraft Saras, developed by the Bengaluru-based National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) would be powered with two P&W engines. Saras is aiming for certification by 2011-end as a prelude to its production. As stated by a spokesperson of P&W, over 320 aircraft in operation in India are powered by the company and IAE (International Aero Engine) engines. The IAE is a consortium in which P&W is a partner.
