An investigation by India's civil aviation regulator DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) has revealed that an Air India (Al) Express Boeing 737-800 flight from Dubai heading to the western Indian industrial city of Pune on May 26 managed to avert a disaster similar to the Mangalore air tragedy in which 158 people had perished. According to DGCA, the aircraft in flight abruptly plunged 6,800-ft owing to the lack of alertness on the part of co-pilot when the pilot was away for a toilet break. And this did go to panic the passengers.
