Boeing's IDS operations in India look to be taking off to a good start. The company says it's selling eight P-8I anti-submarine airplanes to New Delhi- the first international customer for the airplane. The first P-8I will be delivered within two years.rnThe P-8I is a derivative of the P-8 A Poseidon that Boeing is building for the U.S. Navy. India has also issued an RFP for six medium-range maritime reconnaissance (MRMR) aircraft. Significantly against the backdrop of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, the Indian Coast Guard also is looking for six MRMRs but without an Airborne Early Warning system.
