Norwegian companies will have to follow new rules for assessing the impacts that development projects have on the environment or human health or face tougher sanctions that could mean fines or prison for offenders. The new rules now in effect aim to simplify the application process for companies applying for permission to change land use for construction, while simultaneously strengthening environmental protections, according to Climate and Environment Ministry.
