A proposed Danish law on the taxation of pesticides would hike the price of certain products by more than 600 percent and trim the cost of more environmentally friendly alternatives, causing pesticide use to fall by as much as one-third, according to the Tax Ministry. The ministry published the text of the proposed measure Jan. 26. It will consider comments from agricultural, environmental, and other groups before submitting the bill to Parliament for consideration at the end of March.
