The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) said April 26 that it has published a plan to transform the nation's industrial structure that will promote certain industries and phase out or ban others over the next few years. The new plan, which goes into effect June 1, replaces the previous "Guiding Catalogue of Industrial Structure Development" issued in 2005 and will put a major emphasis on expansion of industries that promote environmental technologies, cleaner industrial production, emissions reduction, energy conservation, and recycling, according to the document.
