There are basically two kinds of geotextiles: woven and nonwoven. Woven geotextiles are made with two or more sets of threads/filaments that are interwoven, while nonwoven geotextiles are made by bonding and/or interlocking of fibers, which is accomplished by mechanical, chemical, solvent or thermal processes or combinations of these. In general, geotextiles are made from polypropylene (PP) or polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
