A new liquid fabric treatment has been developed in the US, which can provide significant additional protection to clothing. Armor Holdings, the biggest manufacturer of body armor in North America, has recently taken out the first license on Shear Thickening Fluid (STF) and expects to have products incorporating it commercially available by the end of 2006. Other licenses for the new product are currently being negotiated.
