Borealis of Denmark and SIMA of Italy have teamed up to produce a new polymer and extrusion line that together dramatically improve the properties and output of high-density modified polyethylene fiber. The improved monofilament fiber will have beneficial implications for end-use applications such as fishing net, ropes, technical textiles and geotextiles, the companies said. Borealis developed the new VS 4531 polymer and SIMA provided the extrusion solution, called the Polytit. The finished fiber product goes well beyond the standard HDPE now on the market.
