SoftBank Group breathed new life into the Japanese equity capital markets last week, defying an ongoing lockdown to complete the country's biggest block trade in nearly two years.The group, which needs money to buy back shares and reduce debt, raised ¥316.8bn (US$2.9bn) from the sale of a 5.01% stake in its mobile phone unit SOFTBANK CORP in an overnight trade on Thursday, the largest deal of its kind since Altaba sold its US$4.3bn stake in Yahoo Japan in September 2018.
