Investment bank JP Morgan Chase has agreed to pay $1.7 billion in cash for the global metals and oil businesses and the non-North American gas and power operations of RBS Sempra Commodities, the companies said February 16 (IGR 635/36).rnUnder the terms of the deal, RBS Sempra Commodities, a joint venture between the Royal Bank of Scotland and US-based Sempra Energy, will be left with its sizeable power and gas businesses in North America.rnThe final purchase price of the sale will be determined at the close of the transaction, based on the book value of the business plus a premium of $468 million, Sempra said.
