You are cordially invited to attend the 1st International Conference on Innovation and Integration in Aerospace Sciences to be hosted by the newly established Centre of Excellence for Integrated Aircraft Technologies (CEIAT), Queen's University Belfast. Funded under PEACE II, CEIAT involves a strategic partnership between the RAE 5~* rated Schools of Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering, Bombardier Aerospace, the Northern Ireland Aerospace Consortium, and the newly formed Virtual Engineering Centre within the University. As implied by the title, a major focus for the Centre will be the integration of engineering disciplines into an overall systems framework, underpinned by innovative research within the established sciences. This integration focus will be key to addressing many of the priorities for the aerospace industry which, over the next decade, will include 1. Reducing the product development cost and cycle time, 2. Reducing aircraft operating cost, 3. Lowering environmental impact, 4. Improving aircraft safety. Meeting these challenges will not only require new technologies but also a more integrated (systems) approach to all the relevant disciplines in design and development of Aerospace vehicles. Authors from academia, research institutes and industry are invited to submit papers from all fields of research which support the above priorities. An important theme of the conference will be the balance between classical research areas and the integration of design and management systems.
