Experimental study of vibrations generated by defective deep groove ball bearing

摘要

The performance of any rotating machine is very dependent on vibrations generated by rolling elements bearings. The nonlinear vibrations generated by deep groove ball bearing becomes unpredicted due in the presence of defects on bearing elements. Therefore, in the present study, experiments have been carried out to study the vibrations generated by defective deep groove ball bearing at various speed and radial load. The vibrations generated by deep groove ball bearing in presence of circular or rectangular defect on either race of the bearing were captured by accelerometer 603C01 and data acquisition unit. Moreover, three different load levels and four shaft speed were selected during experimentations. The vibration amplitude have been compared through kurtosis value and defect frequency amplitude. Through this study, it has been revisited and confirmed experimentally that the location, size and type of local defect and bearing load affect the overall vibration amplitude of shaft bearing system.
