摘要

This study investigates how land use influences local temperatures in Curitiba, Brazil (25°31'S latitude, 917 m elevation). Air temperature and humidity were monitored at seven different locations in the city during a 1-month period. The land use patterns around each location were quantified according to five different categories. Monitoring of climatic data occurred in winter 2002. Comparisons were made qualitatively and quantitatively. As a final step of this study, energy consumption for air-conditioning of three different building systems was estimated to evaluate how the impact of land use on local temperature affects electric energy demand.
