A thermo economic optimization analysis is presented yielding simple algebraic formula for estimating the optimum dimensions of shell and tube type heat exchangers for industrial and waste heat recovery applications. An economic analysis method is used in the present study, together with the thermal analyses, for thermo economic optimization of heat exchangers of shell and tube type.
