摘要

The paper presents a non-dimensional analysis of entropy generation in heat exchangers of the evaporator and/or condenser type. The entropy generation is normed by the product of the overall heat transfer coefficient and the heat transfer surface area. In the analysis only the influence of the temperature difference between the streams is taken into account, while the impact of the pressure drop of the streams on the entropy generation is neglected. The real to maximum entropy generation is shown, and put into relation with the heat transfer effectiveness. Using the derived relevant non-dimensional analytical equations, the non-dimensional graphical presentation is made. The diagrams make it possible to obtain the entropy generation for each operating point of the heat exchanger.
