摘要

A transient analysis of microchannel heat exchangers used in the cooling of electronic packages is carried out using finite element method. The transient performance of the microchannel is expressed in terms of a number of non-dimensional parameters such as Biot number, conductivity ratio, non-dimensional heat capacity rate, length to width ratio and length to height ratio. Thus, the results presented are not restricted to any particular microchannel and/or any specific operating conditions. The maximum temperature in the microchannel system is given for both transient and steady state conditions in terms of the governing parameters. From this, the total thermal resistance of the microchannel is determined. The data presented in this paper in the generalized form is useful for designing microchannels.
