The utility Limejump of the UK has added hydropower production to its growing Virtual Power Platform (VPP), with the signing in April of separate power purchase agreements with the DHG Hydro/Canaird River Company and the National Trust. Under the PPAs, Limejump will manage the generation from DHG Hydro's 1.2 MW Langwell hydropower plant near Ullapool in Scotland, and the National Trust's 45 kW Gelli Iago station in Snowdonia ,in North Wales. The technology that forms the core of the Limejump VPP will, according to the energy technology group, provide the National Trust and DHG Hydro with access to the UK wholesale market ,and also optimize the assets across National Grid's Balancing Mechanism and other ancillary energy markets.
