Skanska, the multinational construction group based in Sweden, has been awarded a contract worth NOK 582 million (about US$ 70.5 million) by Norwegian power producer Eidsiva Vannkraft to build the 39 MW Tolga hydropower plant in the Tolga municipality in the southeastern county of Hedmark. Construction work will begin in September, with the aim of completing the project during 2021, Skanska announced on 7 September. The run-of-river plant, which will be developed and operated by Eidsiva Vannkraft on behalf of Oppland-skraft, is designed to produce average annual output of 205 GWh, equivalent to the annual power supply of 10 000 households. The four joint shareholders of Opplandskraft, which are E-CO Energi, E-CO Energi, Akershus Energi, Oppland Energi and Eidsiva Vannkraft, each with 25 per cent shares, approved in June this year an investment of NOK 900 million (USS 109 million), corresponding to the estimated value of the project, after receiving a licence in April 2017 from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE), which regulates the country's water resources and energy supply.
