Meanwhile, completion of a contract to renovate and modernize the 336 MW Chhukha hydropower plant in Bhutan was announced recently, following the successful re-commissioning of unit 1. BHEL of India was contracted by Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC), which owns and operates the run-of-river plant on the river Chhukha, to replace the generator stator and rotor coils of units 1 and 3. The modernized unit 3 was commissioned last year. The original generators for all four units were supplied by BHEL.
