Morocco's state power and water utility Office National de I'Elec-tricite et de I'Eau Potable - Branche Electricite (ONEE-BE) invites sealed bids from qualified contractors by 25 March for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of hydro-mechanical and electrical works at the Bin EI Ouidane and Ait Ouarda dams located on the river EI Abid in the north-central region of Beni Mellal-Khenifra. The contracted work, which is expected to take 18 months, is to be financed from a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The EBRD agreed in November 2015 to provide a sovereign guaranteed loan of up to €35 million to finance the ONEE Hydro Rehabilitation Project, which is designed to extend the lifespan of its hydropower plants, enhance their production and efficiency, as well as improve safety and climate resilience at various dams.
