The efficacy of acoustic deterrent devices (ADDs) to protect minke whales from noise impact during offshore windfarm construction has been demonstrated in a project undertaken by the Offshore Renewables Joint industry Programme (ORJIP) of the UK, with funding from Innogy, 0rsted, and Statoil, and managed by the UK Carbon Trust. The results will help to increase confidence that ADD is effective when used in conjunction with other mitigation measures.
